SeasonPass is an app that keeps track of the shows you follow. It has no user accounts. What you save in the app stays on your phone. Only if you say yes does the app share, anonymously, how it's used.
Who's behind it
SeasonPass is made by Ryan Lumbye, as a private individual in Denmark. I'm the data controller for the information described here. If you have questions, write to [email protected].
The app
What stays on your phone
- the streaming services you've picked
- the shows you follow and which episodes you've marked as watched
- your settings and the name you may have entered
None of this leaves your phone unless you make a backup yourself (the file then goes wherever you save it, for example iCloud). If you delete the app, the data is gone.
Anonymous usage, only if you say yes
The first time you open the app, we ask whether we may see, anonymously, how it's used. If you say no, none of the following is sent. You can change your answer at any time under Profile → Privacy.
If you say yes, we send:
- To Supabase (database in the EU, Frankfurt): a random ID for your installation, your country, the app version, the services you've picked, and for each show you follow: which show, where its data comes from, which service you watch it on, whether it's paused, and how many episodes you've watched (not which ones).
- To PostHog (analytics in the EU): the same random ID, your country and named events: that the app was opened, how far you get in the introduction, when you add or remove a show, searches with no results, and when you share your Top 3 or connect your TV.
We never send your name, your email, your contacts or the list of episodes you've watched. No screens or taps are recorded. The purpose is to understand which shows and services are used and what the app should get better at.
Delete your data
If you turn sharing off, your services and shows are deleted from Supabase and nothing more is sent. All that remains is the random ID with no data attached and the events PostHog has already received. Neither says who you are, and they can't be linked to you. If you say yes again later, you get a new ID.
What the app fetches
To show episodes, dates and images, the app fetches public data from TVmaze, TMDB and OMDb and from our own catalogue of shows on TV 2 Play, DRTV, SVT Play, TV4 Play, MTV Katsomo, Ruutu and RÚV. The requests only contain which show is being looked up or what you search for. As with any request on the internet, these services can see your IP address, and their own privacy policies apply to that.
Notifications and TV
Notifications about new episodes are scheduled on your phone. Nothing is sent to a server. If you turn on TV sync, your phone sends your overview directly to SeasonPass on your TV over your own Wi-Fi, not over the internet.
The website and the waitlist
If you join the waitlist, we store your email, the language you signed up in, the country you were in (based on your IP address) and when. We only use it to email you about the launch. Every email has a link to unsubscribe, and your email is then deleted from the list. Once the app is released, we delete the whole list.
For this we use:
- Cloudflare: hosting the website, storing the waitlist and a bot check (Turnstile) that looks at your browser and IP address to stop spam.
- Resend: sending emails.
Cloudflare and Resend are US companies, so the information may be processed outside the EU. This happens under the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
The website has no analytics and no tracking. It only stores a cookie with your choice of language if you switch language.
Legal basis
Both the anonymous usage in the app and the waitlist are based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time, as described above.
Your rights
You have the right to know what information we hold about you and to have it corrected or deleted. Write to [email protected]. Data from the app is linked to a random ID, not to your name or email, so we can't find it from a message. The easiest way is to turn off Share anonymous usage under Profile → Privacy; that deletes it.
If you're unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency or the data protection authority where you live.
What we don't do
- No ads
- No selling or sharing of data with anyone other than those named here
- No tracking across other apps and websites
Changes
If we change what's collected, we'll update this page and the date at the top. We'll tell you about bigger changes in the app.
